SilviAlice: From Panama to Dublin's Indie Scene with Music That Moves and Heals

In the vibrant world of emerging Irish artists and the dynamic landscape of live music in Dublin, one name is steadily making its mark: SilviAlice. Born Silvia Alicia González González, this Panamanian artist, known by her captivating stage name, invites listeners into a world where pop rhythms dance with indie sounds and a hint of R&B, all while delivering lyrics steeped in raw vulnerability and profound human experience. Her path proves that music is more than just a pastime; it's a lifelong mission to inspire and nurture positivity in others.

From Panama's Embrace to a Global Stage

SilviAlice’s story begins in the Republic of Panama, a country of approximately 4.5 million people that geographically connects North and South America. It was there, amidst the tropical breezes and vibrant culture, that her earliest sparks of creativity ignited.

A deeply cherished memory from her childhood, between the ages of four and six, is watching her father paint cartoons, the same animated characters she and her siblings enjoyed on television. She recalls the "colourful drawings hanging on the drying rack for clothes, moving with the wind," an image that profoundly "awakened a sense of creativity" within her.

Even earlier, at around three years old, a Christmas gift left an indelible impression: "It was a plastic book that was half a piano keyboard. It contained the sounds of many animals, accompanied by classical pieces like Minuet," she recounts, adding, "For some reason, I’ve never forgotten this toy".

Interestingly, while these early influences sparked her artistic leanings, SilviAlice notes that her musical style today diverges significantly from the music she heard at home.

"My music is mainly influenced by indie and pop artists of my generation," she explains, citing a particular admiration for Aurora, whose song lyrics are "full of humanity—something I’ve been preaching about for years".

This early distinction between external influences and her innate artistic compass hints at the independent spirit that defines her work.

The Unfolding of a Musical Destiny

For SilviAlice, music has always been more than just a pastime; it is intrinsically linked to her very being. "I believe that every person is born with certain gifts that can help them plant a positive seed in others," she muses. "I believe music is part of my life’s purpose. I don’t see myself far from singing or playing piano. That’s why I don’t see music just as a hobby, but as a commitment to keep giving my best while I’m alive".

This profound conviction propels her forward, even amidst the demanding realities of a full-time job, studies, and other adult responsibilities that make it challenging to dedicate all the hours she desires to her craft.

The keyboard, a constant companion throughout her musical evolution, was her very first instrument. The story of how she came to formally learn piano is particularly heartwarming. At 11 years old, she received a letter from her primary school announcing classical piano lessons with a Russian teacher.

Her reaction was immediate and visceral. She vividly remembers, "When I saw it, my eyes were filled with hearts, like the emoji we send when we really like something." Without a word, she handed the letter to her father, who, upon reading it, asked if she would like to take lessons. Her enthusiastic "yes" led to a Christmas gift in 2008: a five-octave keyboard that remains in her home in Panama to this day.

Despite this early passion, SilviAlice did explore a different career path, studying architecture and eventually earning her diploma after 8.5 years (from 2017 to 2025). However, destiny had other plans. Beginning in 2018, while still pursuing architecture, she began attending open mics in Panama, where she encountered numerous songwriters.

"That was one of the impulses that made me crave expressing myself in the same way," she reveals. This renewed spark led her back to practicing her piano that same year, and crucially, she began developing a skill she hadn't fully explored before: "playing the keyboard while singing at the same time". This period marked a significant pivot, cementing her return to music as a central part of her life.

The Unpredictable Canvas of Creation

SilviAlice describes her songwriting and composing process as very unpredictable. Inspiration often strikes when least expected, such as on the bus, in the bathroom, or while getting ready to sleep. This candid insight offers a glimpse into the organic, sometimes spontaneous nature of her creative flow.

Her most fertile ground for creativity, both physically and mentally, often emerges from difficult emotional states. "Most of my lyrics are born during moments when I’m dealing with difficult emotions," she shares. Beyond personal introspection, she finds profound inspiration in a diverse array of non-musical sources. Reading poetry deeply enriches her artistic well, as does watching movies, walking in parks surrounded by green trees, and engaging in self-listening through meditation, prayer, or processing experiences with others.

Even when faced with the dreaded writer's block or creative doubt, SilviAlice has developed an intuitive approach: "I rest from what I’m trying to create and come back to it when I feel less tired". She also identifies a deeply personal, almost sacred space for overcoming creative hurdles. "Speaking with God (when nobody is around—in a place where I can say or do anything without being judged or pressured) has been the unexpected space where I’ve created my favourite melodies and lyrics". This reveals a spiritual dimension to her creative resilience.

A Sound that Moves You: Embracing Vulnerability Through Dance

When asked to describe her sound, SilviAlice emphasizes a unique fusion: "I always try to give a lot of movement (high BPM) to lyrics that reflect vulnerability, so people can see that what we often view as a disadvantage can actually be a reason not to miss the chance to dance".

Her music is a compelling blend of genres, where listeners "will be able to hear pop rhythms, indie sounds with a bit of R&B". This description highlights her distinctive approach to turning emotional depth into an energetic, danceable experience.

The themes she finds herself returning to in her lyrics are often deeply personal and reflective of her recent life experiences. A particularly impactful event occurred on June 10th, roughly six weeks after she left her home country for Ireland. Both of her smartphones were stolen, resulting in the devastating loss of "three years’ worth of memories of my niece growing up, family moments, and artistic works related to my architecture and musical creative processes," along with content related to her first Spotify track release.

This emotional blow sparked a period of profound introspection. "After that emotional loss, I spent a significant amount of time realizing that being robbed in this country was not part of my plans," she recounts. This challenging experience led her to reflect on her purpose in Dublin: "The answer is: ‘I am here to prove to myself what I’m capable of.’". This determination fuels much of her recent writing, as she aims to look back on 2025 and say, "You did your best, and you did it with passion".

Beyond her thematic choices, SilviAlice's music carries a signature element that makes it uniquely hers. "I think the signature is in the drama reflected in the music and voice, the unexpected silences in some songs, and the surprising changes". These elements ensure that her listeners are not just hearing music, but experiencing a dynamic, emotionally resonant journey.

Milestones and the Power of Resilience

Among her proudest moments, SilviAlice cherishes a concert she performed in Panama before her move to Ireland. This wasn't just any show; it was a deeply personal triumph. "I feel very grateful that I was able to organize, rehearse, prepare for my trip to Dublin, and work eight hours at my secular job all at the same time," she shares.

The experience of singing my favourite songs in front of my family and beside my best friends, who were not only on the stage but also in the audience, made me feel loved, appreciated, and full of energy. This moment encapsulates her dedication and the profound connection she feels with her audience and loved ones.

Setbacks are an inevitable part of any artistic journey, and SilviAlice recalls an early one that shaped her resilience. At ten years old, she auditioned for the first edition of a children's singing contest in Panama.

Despite lacking formal singing lessons and feeling incredibly nervous, she felt a deep inner conviction to try. "I just felt in my soul that I could be good at it," she explains. Though she didn't advance to the next stage, the experience was still a victory. "I felt relieved that at least I had tried," she affirms. This early lesson in embracing effort over outcome clearly resonates in her current philosophy of giving her best.

Connecting Souls: Collaborations and Community

When envisioning future collaborations, SilviAlice has truly ambitious, yet deeply heartfelt, dreams. "I’ve always seen myself singing one day with Alicia Keys or John Legend," she admits. While acknowledging it "sounds like a crazy, platonic dream," her desire to meet them in person one day speaks to the profound admiration she holds for their artistry.

Her approach to engaging with other artists and the broader community is rooted in a fundamental human quality: "It’s very easy for me to connect with people who have empathy and humanity," she states. She believes this trait is best revealed through actions, "more in people’s actions than in the lyrics of a song".

This emphasis on genuine connection extends to her relationship with her fans, who play a vital role in shaping her creative choices. "I love seeing people dance to my songs," she enthuses. "I love when they say, ‘I want to hear that song on my Spotify.’ These kinds of comments make me want to create even more". This direct feedback fuels her drive and reinforces the impact of her art.

On the Horizon: Current Projects and Festival Dreams

Currently based in Dublin, Ireland, SilviAlice is diligently working on a significant milestone: the release of her first song on Spotify. This exciting debut is described as "a mix of bossa nova and pop," promising a fresh, genre-blending sound for her growing audience.

Looking to the future, SilviAlice has a clear vision for where she sees her music thriving. She dreams of gracing the stages of renowned festivals across the globe. Her wish list includes The Great Escape in London and Brighton, a premier event for new music, as well as two notable Panamanian festivals: Macrofest and Musicalion. Her ambitions also extend to major international stages, with Lollapalooza in the United States completing her dream festival lineup. These aspirations underscore her global outlook and her desire to share her music with diverse audiences.

The Heart of the Message: Catharsis, Sincerity, and Human Connection

Ultimately, what SilviAlice hopes listeners take away from her music is a multifaceted experience that combines catharsis, sincerity, drama, and surprise, serving as an extension of herself. She deeply understands the universal nature of human emotion, recognizing that "Every living human has seasons in which they are happy, vulnerable, or even sad".

Her music is designed to resonate with every mood a person might experience. The core objective of her songs goes beyond mere relatability; it's about "not only connecting with people by translating into words, sounds, experiences and emotions that everyone can have, but how we fight and face the ones that aren’t very positive".

This highlights her commitment to exploring the full spectrum of human experience and offering a sense of shared struggle and triumph through her art.

Beyond the Melodies: Passions and Purpose

SilviAlice's vibrant artistic spirit extends far beyond music. She is "very passionate about the arts in general," finding deep appreciation in poetry and immense enjoyment in watching various forms of dance, including ballet, salsa, and merengue. Her passions also encompass nature conservation and teaching, a skill she previously honed by teaching English in Panama.

She also has a keen interest in video production, having even worked at a radio station in the past. These diverse interests undoubtedly enrich her artistic perspective and provide varied outlets for her creative energy.

In managing the intense periods of creativity or performances, SilviAlice has a clear approach to recharging: "I need to spend a lot of time alone, reminding myself why I do what I do". This introspective practice keeps her grounded and reconnected with her core purpose, allowing her to continually offer her best to her art and audience.
