Oana Ciinaru is a talented singer set to perform at Out of Order, a night dedicated to celebrating live music in Dublin. On March 20th, 2025, Oana will take the stage at Fibber Magees Basement, bringing her evocative vocal style to the audience in an intimate and engaging performance.
Oana’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her family’s influence. Growing up in a small village in southern Romania, she was surrounded by music from an early age, with her father and grandmother both being talented musicians.
Her grandmother, who was a singer and songwriter, had a significant impact on Oana. “My granny would always sing to me, and in her later years, she began writing her own songs,” Oana remembers. Though her grandmother never performed publicly, her influence remained with Oana throughout her life.
Oana's father, a singer of Romanian folk songs, was also an important influence. He performed in local bands, and his music inspired Oana's own interest in singing and performance. From a young age, Oana was immersed in music, often listening to the radio with her family, which exposed her to a wide variety of genres from around the world.
Since moving to Dublin in 2011, Oana has blended her Romanian roots with the eclectic music scene of the city. She draws inspiration from various genres including soul, R&B, blues, jazz, and even flamenco. This blend of influences has allowed Oana to carve out a distinct sound that sets her apart in Dublin’s music scene.
While she has yet to release any original music, Oana is in the process of working with a new band. Together, they are developing a set list that reflects her musical evolution. The goal is to create songs that explore themes such as love, loss, and personal growth—universal experiences that can resonate with audiences for years to come.
“Music is about emotion,” Oana says. “I want to communicate something meaningful through my voice that resonates with people.”
Oana’s live performances are a testament to her talent and dedication to her craft. She started performing at school events and weddings in her native Romania. These early experiences helped her develop her stage presence and connect with audiences.
After moving to Dublin, Oana performed at open mic nights at well-known venues like The International Bar, The Leeson Lounge, and Sin É. These performances allowed her to refine her style and build connections within the local music scene. One of her most memorable moments came when she performed at The Leeson Lounge with a band called El Paradiso. “That night, I performed alongside an American harmonica player, and the sounds just blended perfectly,” she recalls.
Though Oana took a long break from music to focus on other aspects of her life, she returned to the stage with a renewed passion. Her performance at Sin É, where she received great feedback from the audience, marked another milestone in her career.
In addition to her live performances, Oana won a competition for best song when she was just seven years old. Although her musical journey has taken a more winding path since then, this early achievement showed that her musical talent was clear from a young age.
Oana is currently focused on building a band with her housemate, as she seeks to develop a cohesive sound that reflects her diverse influences. Her goal is to start writing her own songs, something she has always been interested in but has only recently begun to explore seriously. “I’ve always written poetry, and now I want to turn that into music,” she shares.
The songs she plans to write will focus on themes such as love, loss, and grief, which she believes are universal emotions that everyone can relate to. She hopes that her music will stand the test of time, connecting with listeners on a deep emotional level.
Oana’s ultimate goal is to build a career as a singer and songwriter. She envisions herself performing regularly and eventually becoming known for her original songs.
“I want to create music that captures real, honest emotions. Songs that people can connect with,” Oana explains.
At Out of Order, Oana will perform as part of the Spotlight Unplugged segment, which highlights rising talent in an acoustic format. This intimate performance will give the audience an opportunity to experience Oana’s music up close, where the emotional depth of her voice can be truly appreciated.
Accompanied by the Gaslighters’ crew that comprises Tom and Eamon, Oana’s performance will be a heartfelt and intimate showcase of her musical abilities. Expect her set to be rich in emotion, with every song carefully chosen to create an atmosphere of connection and reflection.
“This performance will be about connecting with the audience,” Oana says. “I want people to feel the emotion behind the songs and hopefully take something meaningful away from it.”
Oana approaches every performance as a conversation with her audience. “I think of it as a dialogue,” she says. “It’s not just about me singing; it’s about sharing something with the audience and hoping they feel the emotion I’m conveying.”
This mindset makes her performances feel personal, as she creates an atmosphere where the audience is part of the experience. Her voice carries a depth of emotion that invites listeners to engage with the music on a deeper level.
Out of Order, organized by Tune Hoppers, will be a night to remember. Alongside Oana, the event will feature performances from The Nicolas’ Case and wAh (Initial Kru), ensuring there will be something for every music lover to enjoy.
Oana’s performance in the Spotlight Unplugged segment is sure to be a highlight of the evening. Fans will have the chance to witness her talent in an intimate setting, where her emotive style can truly shine.
